A modern departure from the traditional cottage chair, the Whistler Adirondack is defined by its architectural weight and clean, decisive lines. Designed in collaboration with Mark Dvorak, this piece draws inspiration from the heavy timber framing of the world’s most iconic ski lodges.

Gone are the curved slats of the past; in their place is a silhouette crafted from substantial planks of solid Grade A Teak. The wide, flat armrests serve as functional side tables perfectly sized for a morning coffee or an après-ski cocktail while the deep, angled seat offers an embrace that encourages lingering. Built to withstand the elements and engineered with a low center of gravity, the Whistler Adirondack brings a sense of permanence and mountain sophistication to any terrace, poolside, or fire pit.

Lodge-Inspired Design: A collaboration with designer Mark Dvorak, featuring heavy timber proportions inspired by alpine architecture.

Grade A Teak: Constructed entirely from sustainably sourced, premium teak that naturally repels water and weathers to a sophisticated silver-grey.

Functional Armrests: Extra-wide, flat arm surfaces double as integrated side tables for drinks and essentials.

All-Weather Weight: Engineered with a substantial weight to remain grounded in high-wind environments or coastal breezes.

Ergonomic Profile: Precisely angled seat and back provide superior lounging comfort without requiring fabric cushions.

GRADE-A TEAK

Our frames are master-crafted from sustainably harvested Grade-A teak, the world’s most durable and prestigious hardwood for outdoor environments.

  • The Integrity: High in natural oils and exceptionally dense, our teak is inherently resistant to rot, moisture, and UV degradation.
  • The Finish: Left in its natural, raw state to celebrate the organic grain. Over time, the honey-gold wood will gracefully evolve into a distinguished silvery-grey patina, a hallmark of authentic teak.
  • Construction: We utilize traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, allowing the wood to expand and contract naturally with seasonal changes while maintaining uncompromising structural stability.

Prado Outdoor is committed to providing high-quality outdoor furniture for both residential and hospitality (commercial) use. Our warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for the specified periods below, effective from the date of purchase (original invoice required). While we stand behind our products, normal wear and tear or misuse is not covered. The warranty is offered to the original purchaser and is non-transferable. Warranty coverage differs for residential vs. commercial use as noted:

  • Frames (Aluminum, Steel, Teak): Residential – 5 YearsCommercial – 2 Years. Covers structural integrity of furniture frames in normal use. Components like foot glides or hardware are not considered part of the frame and may wear with use. This warranty excludes finish changes due to weather or use.
  • Outdoor Fabrics (Cushion Covers & Upholstery): Residential – 5 YearsCommercial – 3 Years. Covers fading or disintegration of solution-dyed acrylic fabrics under normal exposure. Stains, mildew, or damage from improper cleaning are not manufacturing defects.
  • Woven Rope & Sling Materials (e.g. Batyline® mesh): Residential – 5 YearsCommercial – 3 Years. Covers breakage or significant deterioration of Batyline slings, vinyl straps, and woven polymer rope materials.
  • Cushion Construction (Seams & Zippers): Residential – 2 YearsCommercial – 1 Year. Covers manufacturing defects in cushion sewing, such as seam slippage or zipper failure. Routine softening or compression of cushions is normal wear and not a defect.
  • Outdoor Cushion Foam Inserts: 1 Year (Residential or Commercial). Covers loss of resiliency beyond normal softening of high-density outdoor foam. To maximize lifespan, avoid waterlogging cushions and allow them to dry out if they get wet.
  • Table Tops – Glass: 2 Years. Covers manufacturing defects in tempered glass table tops. Chips, scratches, or breaks due to impact or misuse are not covered. Always inspect glass upon delivery.
  • Table Tops – Ceramic & Porcelain (Laminam®): 2 Years. Covers structural defects like cracking not caused by external impact. Minor color variations or texture differences in ceramic slabs are natural and not considered defects. Use proper care to avoid thermal shock.
  • Table Tops – Natural Stone (Granite, Marble, etc.): 2 Years. Covers structural defects unrelated to natural stone characteristics. Color/grain variations or surface pits are inherent and not covered.
  • Umbrellas & Bases: 1 Year. Covers manufacturer defects in outdoor umbrellas and bases. Wind damage or tipping is not covered.
  • Protective Furniture Covers: 1 Year. Prado’s optional covers are warranted against seam tearing or delamination. Fading or degradation from exposure is considered normal wear.

Note: All warranty periods begin on the date of shipment or purchase. Residential covers private home use; Commercial covers hospitality, contract, or any non-residential use. Prado Outdoor may repair or replace defective components at our discretion. Replacement under warranty does not extend the original warranty period.

Designer Notes

"The inspiration for this piece came from the specific ritual of the 'après-ski' that moment of settling in by a fire after a long day in the elements. We designed the Whistler Adirondack to support that experience of lingering. We widened the armrests significantly to function as true side tables, ensuring there is always a place for a drink or a book, and we pitched the seat to be deep and relaxing without being difficult to exit. It is a chair designed not just for sitting, but for staying."

Whistler Adirondack Faqs

No. While many wooden chairs rely on cushions for comfort, the Whistler Adirondack was engineered with a precisely angled seat and back to provide ergonomic support on its own. The "heavy timber" slats are broad and smooth, minimizing pressure points. However, if you prefer a softer feel or a pop of color, standard outdoor throw pillows work beautifully with the deep seat.

Like all our teak collections, the Whistler Adirondack is delivered in its natural, golden-honey state. Over time, as it is exposed to the elements (sun and rain), it will naturally weather to a sophisticated, silver-grey patina. This is a cosmetic change that does not affect the structural integrity or durability of the wood. If you prefer to maintain the original golden color, we recommend applying a high-quality teak sealer annually.

The extra-wide armrests are a deliberate design feature inspired by the "après-ski" experience. We sized them to function as integrated side tables, providing ample stability for a wine glass, coffee mug, or book. This eliminates the immediate need for a separate side table, allowing for a cleaner, less cluttered arrangement on your patio or fire pit area.
