Prado Outdoor project
Belmond La Samanna
Belmond La Samanna sits on the Baie Longue shoreline in Saint Martin, a beachfront resort where guest terraces, pool decks and sand-level lounging all sit within a few hundred feet of open Caribbean water.
Beachfront hospitality is the hardest test outdoor furniture faces. Constant salt spray, tropical UV at low latitude and cleaning cycles every single day will find any weak joint, any plated fastener and any printed fabric within a season. The specification answered each of those directly: Grade A teak heartwood for dimensional stability in heat and humidity, 316 stainless hardware rather than plated steel, and Sunbrella solution-dyed acrylic where the colour runs through the fibre instead of sitting on it.
Hospitality projects are also a logistics problem. Pieces have to arrive in phased, room-count quantities, stack or move for cleaning, and be replaceable piece by piece years later without the whole scheme falling out of match. Prado holds collections in production long term for exactly that reason, and supports contract work with per-piece specification sheets, fabric approvals and freight coordination to island destinations.
Specified for this project
- Grade A teak heartwood, kiln-dried and mortise-and-tenon joined
- 316 stainless steel hardware throughout for beachfront salt exposure
- Sunbrella solution-dyed acrylic, rated for high-UV tropical installations
- Serge Ferrari sling on frames where fast drainage matters more than cushions
- Phased delivery and freight coordination for island hospitality projects
